About Us

We believe live music makes the world a better place. Here’s why we’re obsessed with helping you share more of it.

From our founder, Reuben Avery:

It started with a simple, frustrating truth: I was a professional musician who was spending more time managing spreadsheets than playing music.

My 9-piece event band, The Phonix, was my passion. By 2017, we were busy, playing over 70 gigs a year. From the outside, we looked successful. But on the inside, I was completely burning out. The band wasn't profitable, and the administrative chaos was overwhelming. I was drowning in a sea of chaotic email chains, last-minute texts to check musicians' availability, and a dozen different apps that didn't talk to each other.

I knew there had to be a better way. I searched everywhere for a single tool that understood the unique workflow of a bandleader, but it didn't exist. So, I decided to build it myself.

That decision changed everything. My mission shifted from just trying to save my own band to something much bigger.

I believe that when people experience live music, they become better versions of themselves. I’ve seen it happen hundreds of times. When a crowd sings a song together, strangers become friends. A sense of community and unity is created in an instant. That's a kind of magic that can make the world a better place, and I wanted to help create more of it.

Back On Stage was born from that mission.

It’s more than just software. It’s the tool I wish I had when I was at my breaking point. It was forged in my own burnout to help musicians like us build sustainable careers and bring more live music to the world, without sacrificing their sanity.

We handle the administrative grind so you can get back to doing what you love: making music.
