Your feature request should not vanish into a form.
You know what your band needs the software to do. You have probably told a software company before, and watched the request disappear into a queue you cannot see, ranked by people who have never staffed a nine-piece for a Saturday wedding.
Most roadmaps get decided in a room you are not in. Two years later the thing you asked for either turns up or it does not, and nobody ever told you which way it went.
The Build Board runs the other way round. The spec goes up in public. The build cost goes up next to it. Then the bands who actually need the feature decide whether it happens.
Enough of you want it, it gets built. Not enough, everyone gets refunded and we say so out loud.
Read the spec
The full Statement of Work is published first, including what we are deliberately not building. Nobody is asked for a penny before it is up.
Back it
Contributions start at $100. Payment is taken at checkout and refunded in full, automatically, if the target is missed.
Shape it
For 14 days backers argue with the spec. Real changes have come out of this. Then it locks and development starts on day 21.
Everyone gets it
Once built, the feature ships to every band on a qualifying plan, backer or not. The product never gets split by who paid.

The feature gets built
That is the main one, and it is the honest reason to back anything here. A tool your band needs starts existing, in the platform you already run on.
A say in the spec
For the first 14 days the spec is a draft and backers shape it. This is not decoration. The current campaign changed its core design because a backer pushed back on it.
Once it locks, anyone who backed before the lock gets 7 days to withdraw for a full refund if the final version is not what they wanted.
Your name on it
In the release notes and on this board when the feature ships. The bands who paid for it get the credit for it.
What will never appear on this board.
Anything already on our roadmap
If you ask for something we were going to build in the next 6 to 12 months anyway, we will tell you that and build it for free. Charging for work that was already coming would poison the whole idea, and the idea only works if you trust it.
Anything we have not checked is buildable
No dollar figure goes on a page before somebody has confirmed the build is what the spec thinks it is. The estimate published is the low end. If it runs over, that is our problem, not yours.
A campaign that quietly disappears
If a campaign misses its target, every backer is refunded in full and we post an honest note about why it did not land. No quiet burial, no pretending it never happened. Almost nobody does this, which is exactly why we do.
An open-ended ask
Campaigns close the moment the target is hit. You cannot overfund one, and we will not keep taking money for a build that is already paid for.

The campaign opens and the draft spec is published in full.
Backers argue with the spec. Changes get made in the open, with the reasoning published.
The spec locks and republishes as final. Everyone who backed before the lock gets 7 days to withdraw for a full refund.
The withdrawal window closes and development starts. Never earlier.
Funded and building, or refunded in full and the page comes down.
What happens if the campaign misses?Every backer is refunded in full, automatically. Nothing to chase and nobody to email. The page comes down and we post a note about why it did not land.
Do I need a Back On Stage subscription?To back a feature, no. To use it once it ships, yes, on a qualifying plan.
Can I change my mind?Up to 7 days after the spec locks, yes, in full. After that the money is committed to a build that is under way.
Why only half the cost?Because we are building a product, not running a shop. Back On Stage covers half of every feature on this board. Your half is what moves it up the queue.
Should I back more than the minimum?Campaigns lean heavily on one or two larger backers, so if a feature would genuinely change your week, size your contribution that way. Tiers run from $100 to $2,500.
Can I suggest a feature?Yes, and most of these started exactly that way. Describe the problem rather than the solution and we will work out what it would take.
